Our History
Twin Lake Village has been welcoming families to the shores of Little Lake Sunapee since 1897. Four generations of the Kidder family have preserved this unique piece of New Hampshire heritage.
Four generations of hospitality.
Founded by the Kidder family, Twin Lake Village remains a family-owned and operated resort. Our commitment to providing a classic New Hampshire summer experience has remained unchanged for over 129 years.
The Kidder Family Legacy Begins
Henry Kidder established Twin Lake Village, opening the doors to a handful of guests seeking the restorative air of Little Lake Sunapee. What started as a modest farmhouse evolved into a cherished summer tradition.
A Growing Destination
As word spread of the Kidder family's warm hospitality and the beauty of the 'Twin Lakes' region, the resort began to expand, welcoming more families to the shores each summer.
Classic New Hampshire Hospitality
The main building, now known as 'The Villa,' became the heart of the village. Guests gathered for meals in the dining room and shared stories on the sprawling porch with its iconic rocking chairs.
Summer Traditions Take Root
By the 1930s, many of the traditions we still cherish today were firmly established. The nine-hole golf course, the meal bell, and the emphasis on simple, shared pleasures defined the TLV experience.
Resilience and Community
Through the mid-century, Twin Lake Village remained a steadfast sanctuary. It was a place where generations of the same families would reconnect, escaping to the peaceful shores of the lake.
